We approached this lakefront cottage project with a focus on blending elevated design with a relaxed, beach-driven lifestyle. The result is a thoughtfully curated space that balances upscale nautical elements with an industrial edge, creating a home that feels both refined and effortlessly livable along the Wisconsin shoreline. Clean lines, durable materials, and intentional contrasts were key in delivering a design that supports both everyday living and seasonal entertaining.
Concrete floors run throughout the home, offering a practical, low-maintenance foundation that complements the cottage’s casual setting while reinforcing its modern, industrial undertone. In the kitchen, stainless steel countertops and a matching island provide a sleek, functional workspace, contrasted by cool-toned cabinetry and punctuated with cobalt blue stools for a bold pop of color. Strategic moments of color continue throughout the home, including rich green walls in the bathroom that bring depth and personality to the otherwise neutral palette.
Texture plays an important role in softening the space and tying together its coastal and rustic influences. A feature wall of rustic paneling anchors the living area, framing the fireplace and television with warmth and character. A sliding barn door leads into the bathroom, adding both visual interest and space-saving functionality. Custom tile work in both showers further elevates the interiors, introducing detail and craftsmanship that enhances the overall design.
The dining area reflects the home’s playful yet polished aesthetic, featuring blue and white wicker seating in a mix of chevron, checker, and larger-scale patterns, paired with a coordinating bench for a collected, layered look. On the exterior, reclaimed wood siding along portions of the lower level reinforces the cottage’s connection to its natural surroundings while adding authenticity and texture.
